This is About as Simple as it Gets

Jeremy DavidsonEconomic Development, Monday Memo

Every person in the state of Oklahoma, no matter their age, gender, race, ethnicity, is worth $1,675.00 a year, every year, for the next ten years.    This funding is tied to Census numbers collected every decade and it is astounding how much each one of us counts for our community.

So you will be totally aware, the 2020 Census postcards start arriving mid-March to invite you to participate early in the 2020 Census either online or by phone. If you would like to fill out the paper form, these will be mailed out to non-responders to the postcard mailer by early April.

All together, each household (house or apartment) can received up to five invitation to participate on the 2020 Census before a Census taker ever knocks on your door. You can avoid the knock by filling out your Census from online, on the phone or on paper.  It is that simple.

If you want to know what these funds go toward, you can learn more by going to the link of the top 55 programs which rely on Federal funds for the State of Oklahoma.  https://gwipp.gwu.edu/sites/g/files/zaxdzs2181/f/downloads/IPP-1819-3%20CountingforDollars_OK.pdf

Remember, when you complete the 2020 Census you not only could be helping someone else, you could be helping a friend, a family member or even yourself at the same time.  Most of us don’t get the opportunity to do that very often, so be ready, do your part and get your 2020 Census information counted.
