Be Woke

Jeremy DavidsonEconomic Development, Monday Memo

Every month there are 25 to 35 people, from all different walks of life,  who gather early on a workday morning, at a different business location in Shawnee to learn more about the business they are visiting, its ownership, what they offer or do, and much, MUCH more.

While your initial thought might be why are they doing this, what might surprise you the most, is that you may just be missing out on one of the best networking opportunities that are taking place in the community.

The interaction these early morning Shawnee Forward Ambassadors are experiencing is seemingly contagious as they not only learn more about the business being visited, but they are exploring opportunities for their own business, they are building partnerships and building one of the strongest first impression teams our community has to offer.

In the past few months, this merry band of dedicated individuals has made their early morning visits to the Holiday Inn, Dillard’s, the Branding Iron, the YMCA, Chili’s, Belfair and is planning some outstanding visits in 2020.

In case you are not sure if you have seen these Ambassadors in action, you will know them by the smiles on their faces, a giant pair of scissors in tow, and their passion to learn more about our center of quite a lot, and how they can share that with everyone they know.  They are literally a TEAM SHAWNEE in action.

If any of this has gotten your attention and you have a desire to be one of the cool kids who are handing out joy to some of Shawnee’s finest places, contact the Shawnee Forward’s, Lindie VanAntwerp at lindie@shawneeforward.com or call her at 405-273-6092, and let her tell you about the Shawnee Forward Ambassador’s Committee, their mission, upcoming ribbon cuttings, and all things business advocacy.
