Leadership Shawnee is a leadership development program designed to provide community leaders with a deeper understanding of the critical issues affecting the greater Shawnee area. The program is based on the belief that knowledge of the community and accompanying areas of need are the prime motivators of leadership.
Leadership Shawnee consists of a two-day retreat and 8 full-day sessions that meet monthly from September to May. Classes feature guest lecturers, experts in their respective fields, local area tours, visits to places with important community missions, leadership training, classroom participation, and an opportunity to network with other civic-minded individuals.
To graduate from Leadership Shanwnee, you must attend at least 6 monthly sessions and the mandatory orientation retreat in September. Sessions are from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Class size is limited to individuals who are employed by members of the Shawnee Forward Chamber of Commerce. Class members are selected to represent a broad range of occupations and backgrounds.
